Bounce with me, bounce with me...

We wanted to clean out the closet in Caden's room last weekend so we decided to put him in his bouncer seat. Caden was not interested in sitting in the seat. He stomped around in the seat for a good 10 minutes before he decided to just stand there and watch Dana and I work. I can definately see him on the dance floor. Sorry the video is sideways. I don't know how to change that.

Uncle Barry's Road Trip

Dana's Uncle Barry was in Joplin for work this week so he made a short road trip over to Springfield to see us. It's always fun to see family, it was especially fun to introduce Barry to Caden for the first time. Caden was very pleasant for Barry's visit and even showed off his little Elvis face.

Happy Easter!

Today is Caden's first Easter. We had some wonderful family time this morning. Dana and I had breakfast while Caden took his post-breakfast nap. Then we had a little bit of play-time before church. The sermon this morning was very good. It was a pretty standard Easter message, but Jeff also talked about how children take on the traits of their parents. I realize this more and more as a Iget older. I look a lot like my mom and have some of her mannerisms. We are beginning to see this in Caden as well. He has started to look like me, but has the patience of Dana (thank goodness). Jeff's message offered a challenge to take on traits of our heavenly father. This is easier said than done, but will help us to be good examples for Caden.

After a nice lunch at Applebee's (love the 2 for $20) we headed home for some unprofessional Easter pictures. Caden looked very handsome in his Easter outfit (Dana looked good too). Caden and Dana shared an Easter basket this year. Dana got Reeses eggs and Big League Chew. Caden got a new toy for his exersaucer.

With all of that done we are each enjoying personal hobbies; Dana is playing a video game, I'm going to do some scrapbooking, and Caden is sleeping.

Happy Easter everyone!

Our Little Sampson and the Cookie Cutters Curse

We took Caden for his first haircut today. I LOVE his hair, but have been wanting to get it trimmed to help with some skin issues he's been having. He just needed a little hair taken off the top and above his ears. I could have done this myself, but I thought we should go all out for his first haircut and take him to Cookie Cutters and get the certificate and all of that. Plus, they're professionals, they'll make sure it looks good.

I had a bad feeling about the haircut this morning and started having second thoughts. I've learned that when you have a bad feeling like this...trust your gut. Caden is such a sweet boy and has the cutest hair. What if he was like Sampson and his pleasant nature had a direct connection to his hair, like Sampson's strength? Would cutting his hair turn him into a holy terror? The answer is no. However, he received the WORST haircut EVER given to a baby. It's quite a sad sight. I'm soooo upset with the lady who did it, but also with myself for taking him for a haircut in the first place. My poor, sweet baby! On the bright side, I happened to buy him a summer hat earlier this week. It looks like he'll get to break it in a little earlier than planned. We'll be getting our money's worth out of that hat.

Surely it will look better before his pictures in two weeks.....yikes! :(

Drool Bucket

I bought Caden this new shirt and hat the other day. I wanted to get a nice picture of him in them, but he kept drolling all over.

Walking...just kidding!

Caden decided this week that he prefers to stand while being held. This makes burping him interesting at times. While it would be pretty funny to see him walking since he is such a little guy, we are in no hurry for it to really happen. Too much child-proofing to complete. :)

Blessings

My mom came for a visit this past weekend. It was so good to see her and spend time with her. Her visit couldn't have come at a better time because Dana and I spent most of Sunday at the ER. Don't worry, everyone is fine. Thankfully my mom was in town to watch Caden so we didn't have to take him with us or try to find someone to watch him. It would have been hard to find a sitter for 12 hours (thank you ER). Thank you being such a blessing to us mom!

I'd also like to give a shout-out to Jeff for staying with Dana at the ER while I took care of some things. It's hard to be so far from family, but friends like Jeff and Cheryl make it easier. Thank you for blessing us Jeff and Cheryl!
