Getting in the spirit...

Our little family spent the morning participating in some local holiday fun. After a tasty Chick-fil-a breakfast at home we headed to campus for Holiday Happening with the University Ambassadors. They had a number of winter crafts for kids and pictures with Santa. Caden enjoyed himself.

Decorating a cookie.

Cleaning the knife.

Getting a snowman tatoo.

We also did a candy walk and made a candy cane reindeer. A
When we were finished on campus we headed to the farm park for Christmas at the Farm. It was pretty quiet there, but Caden enjoyed showing us all the animals.

After another picture with Santa, Caden mailed his Christmas list.

Dana and Lilli had some good snuggle time.

And now it is nap time. :)

Santa

Caden: Mommy, you can ask Santa for a Leapster.
Me: I can sit with Santa and ask for a Leapster?
Caden: No, you're too big. You can stand next to him and ask him.

Pink

Caden and Lilli had pictures yesterday so I had to get some bows, etc. so you could tell Lilli's a girl. I finally had to embrace the pink....mainly because it's hard to find girl's clothing that doesn't have pink. It's growing on me.

Baking

My most recent baking effort was corn muffins from scratch. I think they turned out pretty good.

Train Party

Lilli and I took Caden to G's train birthday party. It was held on a train that is also a museum. Caden loved it. Catherine did a great job with the party. Each kid even received a handmade train whistle. Here's a picture o Caden ringing the train's bell.

Pacifier Time

Now that Lilli is a month old we have begun using a pacifier. Grateful for this invention.

Good Memory

Today Caden got his flu shot. He didn't want to go so I was trying to talk it up on the way.

Me: "Maybe the doctor will give you a sticker or sucker."

Caden: "Yeah! A sucker like at the haircut store where Miss Sarah gives me a sucker!"

Caden only gets suckers when he has his haircut and Sarah is who always cuts his hair. I was really impressed with his memory and the connection he made based on suckers.

Test Kitchen

Today I tried a test kitchen recipe for "lighter and quicker" cinnamon rolls. They turned out pretty good for a 1st attempt by someone who is challenged in the kitchen. :)

Goals

I have a lot of respect for all stay at home parents, especially those with multiple children.

I've decided to set some goals for myself each day I'm on maternity leave. Tomorrow's goal....a shower. Wish I were kidding...don't judge me.

Socialization

We've recently experienced the "benefits" of a child having an opportunity to socialize with other kids. On the way home from dinner tonight Dana was teasing me so I told him to stop being a b-u-t-t (I spelled it, I didn't say it...I know, real mature.). All of a sudden Caden started saying "butt face" from the back seat. I promise you we have not said this word around him (I'm not sure of the last time we used the word...maybe when we were 10). I'm definately not a candidate for Mother of the Year, but I try to be a good example. It really hit home the importance of parenting. Who knows what all our kids will hear on any given day. There are many good things Caden has learned from others as well. Socialization has helped him with his motor and verbal skills and I'm pretty sure he only eats fruits and veggies around other kids. :)

The joys of parenting! :)
